asimo-image-2-132265264According to the world class technology handlers "Honda" , its robot "Asimo" is now able to operate itself without any operator. It can perform variety of delciate and intricate jobs easily now.

A significant improvement in intelligence and the physical ability to adapt to situations takes Asimo another step closer to practical use in an office or public space, according to Honda.

The robot was introduced in 2000 and has steadily developed to the point where it can run and walk on uneven slopes and surfaces, climb stairs,

and reach for and grasp objects. This child like looking robot has been a great development in robotics. The lastest version can even make coffee for you. IT has the abliity to dance on any type of music and even play football. This robot is an ideal robot and can be very helpful in household works .

For the latest version, a new system continuously evaluates the input from multiple sensors, predicts the situation and then determines the behaviour of the robot, meaning that Asimo is now capable of responding to the movement of people and the surrounding situations. This technology also enables it to recognise faces and voices.

It also has strengthened legs, an expanded range of leg movement and a newly developed control technology that enables Asimo to change landing positions mid-movement.

Its hands have tactile and force sensors imbedded in the palm and in each finger. Combined with the object recognition technology, Asimo now possesses greater dexterity, such as being able to pick up a container of liquid and twisting off the cap, or holding a soft paper cup without squashing it.

One exciting prospect of this technology is that Asimo is now capable of making sign language expressions with its hands.

Honda has also introduced a new task-performing robot arm. It was developed while applying multi-joint and posture control technologies to Asimo, and can be controlled remotely to perform tasks in places which are difficult for people to access, such as under rubble in earthquake sites.

The thing to think about is that this technology can also be the start of that era which was depicted in the movie    "I Robot" and who knows how much more developed it can get.
