Symantec's Norton Internet Security gets a new release in the fall of each year, like most security suites. Norton 360 runs on a different schedule. Norton 360 Version 5.0 appeared in February of this year. Today Symantec has launched the free public beta of Norton 360 v6.
This edition adds a number of features already present in the current Norton Internet Security. The Identity Safe password manager and form filler component can now store its data online, so you can sync your passwords between multiple Norton-equipped PCs. Also online, the new Norton
Management lets users check protection status and fix configuration problems from any computer. File Insight already offers information about any file's prevalence, age, and trust level; to this the new edition adds a stability rating. Finally, the v6 edition can limit bandwidth usage when the device is connected to metered networks.
Norton Internet Security 2012 and Norton AntiVirus 2012 switched to a new, streamlined interface. Norton 360 will also get a facelift. Like the other two products it will offer quick access to Norton Mobile Security Lite , Norton Online Family, and Norton Online Backup, as well as the Norton Cybercrime Index and the Norton Safe Web site-rating service.
The beta is available now for free public download at the Norton Beta Center. Testers can share feedback and experiences on the Norton Public Beta Forum.
