Google plus Finally has a vanity url, Its only for celebs

Google+ finally got vanity url for profiles and pages, a feature that major social networking websites has been offering since a very long time.

Most of the users on Google+ has already been looking out for this feature to roll out for their profile, but now when it is finally here - they got to know that its only for the celebrities and popular brand pages, at least for the time being.

The new addressess will be markedly different from their current format. Right now, each user is identified by a long, uniquely assigned number string that looks something like this: https://plus.google.com/b/103687240443146238478/ .

Sharma, a product manager at Google's San Francisco office, says:

"At first, we're introducing custom URLs to a limited number of verified profiles and pages. But over time, we plan to offer custom URLs to many more brands and individuals."

Surprisingly, google plus' page already have a vanity URL alongwith some popular celebrities on the platform.
