Facebook has always been a buzz around the people for connecting them in effective way, it may be the reason after 8 years it is on the top of the list. The giant social networking website holds a huge figure of global internet traffic.
Italian-based social media strategist Vincenzo Cosenza has looked at the most popular social networks used worldwide, according to traffic monitor sites such as Alexa and Google Trends.
According to Alexa, Google is still on the top when we are talking about the traffic across the world.
Facebook was first lauched in United states and was only available for University students to get connected with their friends and share their daily life. A dorm room project is now getting bigger and bigger.
Facebook — which boasts more than 845 million active users — is the top-used social networking site in 126 out of 137 countries analyzed, including the U.S., Australia, Japan, the U.K., Canada, Brazil and India.
Although Facebook has its roots in the U.S. (with 222 million users), Europe is the continent with the most users on the site (232 million).
Cosenza said on his blog:
“If we take a look over Facebook’s shoulders we can see the battle for the second position between Twitter and LinkedIn or, especially in Europe, between Badoo and Twitter.”
