Skype corss message delivery bug reported by users [update]
Skype users are going through the one of the worst nightmare for someone using messaging service. People are reporting a bug which sends your message to someone else in your contact list, other that the one you mensioned in the reciever's box.
The bug was first reported in the Skype's official forum and seems to have followed a June 2012 update of the Skype software.
Skype team officially confirmed the 'bug' and promised to fix it as soon as possbile. According to Skype, the problem only occurs "when a user's Skype client crashes during a Skype IM session, which may in some cases result in the last IM entered or sent prior to the crash being delivered to a different IM contact after the Skype client is rebooted or logged in as a new user."
However, they refused to comment anyfurther and characterized the bug as "rare." Still, Skype is currently working on fixes for the versions of Skype that are affected, which include Skype 5.9 and 5.10 for Windows, Skype 5.8 for Mac, Skype 4.0 for Linux, Skype 1.2 for Windows Phone, Skype 2.8 for Android, and Skype 4.0 for iOS.
Skype wrote on it's blog:
"Based on recent Skype customer forum posts and our own investigation over the past couple of days, we have identified a bug that we are working hard to fix."
Meanwhile, 5 indivisual Skype users has confirmed the bug being sighted by them and asked for the fix immediately. The people are reporting that their messages are being sent to the wrong contacts. "Sometimes it's just a few messages, while other times it's a whole conversation" - said a Skype user.
We just hope that skype issues a bug fix immediately or an update patch which can place a top lid on it permanently.
Is it frightening for you? Are you going to quit Skype until they release a bug fix to avoid such events? Mention in the comments.
