Demonoid's owner is selling all its domains, 7 days auction goes live

demonoid is up for saleWhile the millions of demonoid fans are hoping for the website to come back ever since the DDoS attack with the bang on the IFPI, the website owner has other plans. The step taken by the owner of the website, fades all the chances of getting the website back.

All domains which used to serve the most popular bittorrent website "demonoid," is up for sale - and anyone who offers highest bid on the auction website can have it.

The auction is up on the dutch domain marketplace sedo.de for next 7 days, open for highest bidders. As stated on the auction website - the domain names doesn't include the site data, so whoever is paying for it will only get the ownership of the domain name.

It has not been declared whether the owner of the website is going to handpick the bidder who has any planning to use the domain for torrent website. It is most unlikely that the domain name will be used for another torrent website after IFPI took responsibility of everything they did to demonoid.

Few weeks ago IFPI antipiracy director Jeremy Banks said:

The operation to close Demonoid was a great example of international cooperation to tackle a service that was facilitating the illegal distribution of music on a vast scale. I would like to thank all those officers involved in this operation to close a business that was built on the abuse of other people’s rights.

Last week coloCall, Demonoid's former webhost, said he believed that the site's management was based in Mexico. It was later confirmed that a criminal investigation is underway in the country and that a number of arrests and asset seizures had already taken place.

It is true that selling the domain doesn't mean that the website cannot make a comeback on some other web address, but what it seems after the current buzz on the Internet -- the owner may be taking some time off from the torrent (p2p) world.

what do you think? Demonoid can come back for its fans again, like it did couple of times before? or you have lost it forever?
