Yahoo go themselves a new CEO for the company -- a 13-year veteran of Google. The information was made public by yahoo on monday after Scott Thompson stepped down in May who was alleged of controversial scandal involving his doctored resume.
The employee number 20 at Google was a crucial asset to the search giant, introducing more than 100 features and products to the site during her tenture. She was Google's first woman engineer when in June of 1999 she joined the company created by Stanford classmates Larry Page and Sergey Brin.
For four years running, Fortune has named her one of the 50 Most Powerful Women in Business. At age 33, she was the youngest woman to make that list.
Fashion-savvy Mayer serves on the board of directors of global retail powerhouse Wal-Mart as well as on non-profit groups including the San Francisco and New York City ballet companies.
Mayer was among the top echelon at Google with access to company co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin.
For Yahoo, the appointment is another shot at reinvention after a slew of would-be turnaround experts including Carol Bartz and Thompson, who’s short tenure was marked by a proxy war with Dan Loeb, an activist investor.
